Did you just say you're cold?!? Well, the water shown here is hovering at around 6-7° C (40° F) in the heart of winter when the swell is bombing. Pro surfers, Fergal Smith and Tom Lowe with Mickey Smith are taking life by horns documenting huge waves breaking in the shallowest icy-water.
Normally this is a high-risk situation that most people would avoid. Perhaps, the solid granite rock bottom under these heaviest of waves might deter one from towing themself into the monster. Can you image what that sounds like? All that crashing down in only 2-3 feet of water. For these guys, when they’re in the water, it’s the only thing they hear.
