Pier Pressure Surf Contest
Florida Surfing Assn Jacksonville Beach Pier Florida 17 October 2009
FSA partners with local companies for the event
Jacksonville Beach, FL - The Florida Surfing Association (FSA) is proud to announce the Pier Pressure surf contest on October 17, 2009, which will be held on the Southside of Jacksonville Beach Pier. FSA has partnered with Cliff Bar, Gremmie Gear, FreeFlow lines, Sonny’s BBQ, Papa John’s Pizza, Paco’s Mexican Grill and others to put on the surf event.
There will be many talented and local up and coming surfers of all ages competing in the event and putting on a show for the Jacksonville community. After the event, Paco’s Mexican Grill will be hosting an after party for all competitors and spectators. Anyone is welcome to grab a bite from the local taco bar and watch the action from the surf contest on the big screen.
In addition, a FREE exhibition division will be added for surfers to try out Alaias shaped by III RD Generation creative shapers. Alaias, a surfboard shaped from a thin piece of wood, once ridden by the Polynesians and Hawaiians centuries ago allows surfers to enjoy surfing in a past time and develop the progression of the sport.
Tom Harding and Kyle Goodwin, local North Florida surfers, are hand shaping Alaias and allowing competing surfers to show off their true surfing skills. Also, Tom and III RD Generation are creating unique and custom trophies for the finalist of the Pier Pressure Surf Contest.
Also, Free Flow Lines will be on site allowing all competitors and spectators to try out their product and test their core balance. The participant who last the longest, does the coolest move, or impresses Free Flow the most will be awarded their own Free Flow Line to enjoy for personal use. Check out freeflowlines.com for more info on Free Flow Lines.
The Florida Surfing Association (FSA) is an organization dedicated to bringing all levels of surfing together by offering divisions for all ages and experience levels. FSA uses a four man heat format with qualified judges to secure the integrity of each event.
Also, FSA works on the grass roots level of surfing. FSA offers surf lessons, surf camps, and during the summer is the host of the Super Grom Fest, which has allowed over 150 youth surfers to enjoy a day at the beach, eating food and progressing their surfing all for FREE. Each participant receives a medal and T-shirt.
