We have all seen that sign. It comforts our brain if we find ourselves stuck in a hairy rip current so we don't panic. "Swim at an angle to the beach." ...right? Well, scientists are taking another look at this.
Here researchers can be seen using electronic sensors and special dye to record the movement of the rip current.
